General League Policies

ERAS

To actively appear as a “perpetual” league, each coach is asked to continue with the same team for 3 seasons. After 3 seasons, the coaches will all be given the opportunity draft new races based off from each coach’s cumulative record from the previous era. (Win Percentage) The Coach with the lowest win% is given the first choice in the race “draft”, and the league draft will continue in sequential order.

An exception may be made to ANY coach, if the coach is unhappy to the point of dropping from the league. If allowed an exception to change teams, the coach is BARRED from playing the race he recently abandoned. Any new team will also be governed by the current ERA, and will be rotated out on the usual schedule regardless of the team’s age.

No DAL team is allowed to play vs NON DAL teams under any circumstance. We ask league teams who participate in early ERAS to also acknowledge these rules, so that they may be eligible for ERAS Cups. (think mini Tournaments, but composed of stuff like the 85 Bears vs the 99 Rams and such.)

Missed/Unplayed Matches

Unplayed matches will be given a result of 0-0 if neither party was at fault and available. (Available means that a coach provides at minimum 2 or more time slots to play during regular weekday evening (6pm – 11pm eastern) or Weekend (8am – 11pm eastern) time slots for kick off (at least one of which must be during a weekday evening) and has attempted to schedule their match in good faith in during a game week. If one party was not available during allotted time slots, the result will be 2-0 in favor of the party who was available (and seen actively pursuing the match on the facebook group or the league forums).  The administrative tools provided by BB Manager will be used to set the score for missed games, and once it has been determined if a team would win by default, the coach is to schedule a time BEFORE their next game with the league commissioner for their SPPs vs the league’s DEFAULT/BYE team. Coaches are encouraged to work together to get games played. An extension of 3 days can be added to any game week, by request of the two parties in question (either via the Facebook group or the forums. Any Coaches who require byes in this manner, twice in a season will be under review by the league and consulted on their availability for the following season.

Unintentional Disconnects

Any match that disconnect due to unforeseen circumstances will be replayed from the beginning or if agreed upon by the coaches will be administered to the score on the board prior to the disconnect. In the instance where one coach wishes to replay a game and the other coach wants to reset the score to the dropped games score, the coaches must adjust the score to reflect the previous game. (Any game disconnecting in the first half of a match should always be replayed, time and availability allowing). Any difficulty or disconnects must be posted in the facebook group / forums to the league, so the other players are aware broadband issues are present with one or more of those players.

Intentional Disconnects

Intentionally disconnecting/or abandoning the match for any reason is grounds for being added to the review list as well as dismissal from the league. Pleading for mercy like a spineless coward is worthy of shame and ridicule, but totally acceptable. If at the START OF A DRIVE you can only field 3 players, you may inform your opponent that you are conceding the match and it will not be held against you. Conceding a match via the abandon button will mean your opponent receives your MVP and winnings (though you will keep your other accumulated SPPs for the match). Therefore the suggested method of doing this is to lie perfectly still on the ground and do nothing while the turns end out. If you do start a drive, you must play it out till the end of the drive. Furthermore if more of your players recover and on a subsequent drive you can field 4 or more players you must carry on (you have missed your chance).

Extended Unexplained Unavailability

If we do not hear from you for one full week and you have failed to post in the vacation thread, we may replace you with another coach at our discretion. We will attempt to contact you, but do whatever you can to let us know what’s happened. If we understand the nature of your absence we may be able to work with you on it, but if we are left in the dark we have to assume you may be gone for an extended period of time. We don’t want coaches to experience excessive forfeits, and past experience has taught us that it is usually better to act quickly and do what we can if you return and there was an understandable reason.

Coach Expectations

  • Honor Nuffle. While Nuffle (the dice) can affect your game your opponent is not to be blamed or ridiculed for your misfortune or bad choices. While good-natured ribbing and kibitzing is encouraged please be a sportsman and remember that your opponent should be hammered on the field but not continually antagonized to the point where there develops conflict between the coaches.

  • Enjoy the game and the community that is why we are here.

  • Be available a few times each week during evening hours for eastern North American start times Monday-Friday 7pm till 11pm Eastern. Weekend kick off times are 8 am – 11pm eastern but weekends should not be your only availability.

  • Alert the league administrators of any extended unavailability due to vacations, surgeries, etc. Please post these absences on the facebook group page and forums. Try to schedule your match with your next opponent early or later as required.

  • Provide opponent your availability for the upcoming period within 2 days of the “league week” advancing.

  • Be respectful in game and on forums. Avoid turning disputes into inflammatory public posts.

  • Notify an admin of any issues with another coach including poor availability or unsportsmanlike behavior/conversation (turn 16 fouling or repeated fouling is not unsportsmanlike). This is primarily so we can notice recurring behavior not take immediate action. Isolated incidents will generally be treated as such.

  • Do not intentionally disconnect or concede a match mid-game unless you meet the criteria for forfeit as outlined above.

  • You or your opponent MUST submit match files in a timely manner (within 24 hours of any played match).

  • Check the Facebook Group regularly (minimum once per week) and make sure to read all announcements in the “News” page of the website at least once per week, so you are aware of any league happenings / delays.

  • Name your players. I realize not everyone is creative, or wants to spend more than 2 seconds on this, just change a letter or two from the computer generated one please. The reason is to prevent players of the same name showing up in the league leaders down the road. This really helps build community and is important.

Requests of Coaches

(These things are not required, only encouraged)

  • Contribute to the League by doing more than just playing the match

  • Invite others that you come across that seem enjoyable. (replacement coaches will always be needed!)

  • Spend some time post-game in the Facebook page or forums with your opponent/others, and get to know everyone in the league as time allows.
